A Fairy Cross (staurolite) hunt is being organized, featuring a machine-assisted dig at a spruce-covered site with portable toilets available. Once registered, Charlie will coordinate final numbers with the property owner. The site is believed to be near Murphy, North Carolina, making it an easy day trip for our group.

An exciting trip to Brilliant, Alabama, is in the works to prospect for the highly sought-after “Brilliant” petrified wood—known for its crystallization and striking druzy formations. The owner has offered to pre-dig material to make collecting easier. This site is believed to be the last known private property where this 65–135 million-year-old material can be found, making it a rare opportunity.
Pending: A hunt for Mississippian fossils on Grindstone Mountain in Collegedale is being planned. The traditional site is no longer accessible due to a private sale, but an alternate location has recently become available. Additional details will be shared as they are finalized—stay tuned for updates.
